Welcome to Madelingual!

Hello! I’m Madeline, an aspiring polyglot, traveler, and writer.

My inspiration for Madelingual (a blend of my name and the root “-lingual”) stems from my passion for learning new languages and exploring different cultures. My adventures navigating various languages while traveling have shaped my outlook on life, and this blog is my way of sharing those insights with you.

While I have entertained the idea of starting a blog for some time, the true catalyst for Madelingual came with my recent move to Spain as an English Conversation Assistant. Throughout the application, visa, and moving process, I realized there was not enough practical and easily-accessible information to guide people like me through this experience. So, I created this space in order to stay connected with friends and family back home and share what I have learned so far.

Whether you are an aspiring language assistant, a budget-conscious traveler, or someone eager to immerse yourself in a new language, I hope you can find something helpful and inspiring at Madelingual!

Hi, I’m Madeline!

I’m a 24-year old polyglot, traveler, and writer. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, and I’m currently deciding which language to learn next! I grew up in Wisconsin and took my first trip abroad at 16, traveling to Spain with money I saved from babysitting.

I have recently begun my newest adventure as an English Conversation Assistant in Huelva, Spain, through NALCAP.

Follow along as I navigate life abroad, sharing travel tips, budgeting advice, and the realities of moving to Europe solo!
